New Edgewater Hotel
Edgewater's history dates back to the 1700s. In 1946 the property was purchased by one Mrs.Carter who was a musician and played the piano beautifully; legend has it that on a quiet night you can still hear the sounds of her piano playing. The present owners of this historic property have managed to incorporate the old with the new by retaining a significant amount of its hand carved mahogany.
Where the river meets the ocean, located on the picturesque east coast of Barbados. On the western side of the hotel are the Joe's River and the 85-acre Joe's River Tropical Rain Forest that rises to a height of 1,000 feet above sea level. There is a track on the eastern side of the hotel that identifies part of the path of the old railway line.

The hotel's in-house restaurant, The Cliffside, provides a choice of seating locations. You can relax in the outdoor area that overlooks the Atlantic Ocean, or sit inside and enjoy the cool fresh breezes of the ocean. The restaurant is well-known for its Bajan cuisine, especially its Sunday buffet and provides a wide choice of culinary delights which can be ordered from its affordable -la-carte menu.
Why not sit and view the Atlantic Ocean and the unusual rock formation from ancient coral reef, or take a photograph of the unspoiled 9 mile long beach that sits in front of this wonderful newly refurbished hotel. The hotel have surf directly in front for the more average surfer but you will find the world class surfing wave of Soup Bowl, the number one spot for surfers in the Caribbean a short stroll away. The reception area is brand new, the pool has been completely refurbished with a pool bar and you can relax and enjoy the sounds of the river on the newly refurbished riverside deck.
